LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN...

All About The Race was born from the desire to showcase the unsung and lesser-known horses, faces, races and places in the sport of horse racing - Tom Ferry’s Magical Places of American Horse Racing series aligns perfectly with that vision. I am honored to have All About The Race as the official home for this spectacular, one-of-a-kind series. Please enjoy the journey through these “magical places”, which Tom has brought to life with not just his words, but his photos too. Check back weekly for the latest installments. - Tara Cochran, Owner of All About The Race

You will find them spread across 20 different states. Iconic landmarks on sacred ground in the world of Thoroughbred, Standardbred, Quarter Horse and steeplechase horse racing.

In this continuing series, I will bring you along to 42 of the magical places of American horse racing. I carefully refrain from calling any of them the “most” magical. What is special to one may be nondescript to another. The series will capture these special destinations in the form of farms, barns, racetracks, races, a trophy room, a statue, a tree, two cities, and two wooden octagonal spires. While most of these places are readily accessible to the general public, a few are not. In these cases, I am most grateful to the management of the venues for their graciousness and shared passion.

I hope you enjoy this journey across the landscape of American horse racing. The faces, places and memories evoked along the way are timeless. - Tom Ferry
